September 30, 2015. With a note.

[Mom's note: Maya's writing today was too difficult for me to manage to type. So I've taken a photo of her journal for you. Some explanations may still be in order. When she writes 7 and 10, perhaps it's obvious, but she's trying to explain how many points she received on an assignment and how many points were possible on this assignment. She says she did "pretty bene" which is actually perhaps an understatement. My understanding of the assignment was that the teacher read them a "story" (I think, it's hard to tell) and they were supposed to write what they heard (basically a dictation). Much of Maya's is actually correct and understandable. Maya also asked me to add the photos of the assignment, along with the captions.]

This is my dictation Italian:

This is the note from my teacher. It says "Cara Maya, Sei stata bravissima! Hai scritto MOLTE parole in modo corretto, altre sono comunque comprensibili. Brava!" This means "Dear Maya, You were very good! You wrote MANY words in the correct way, others however are understandable. Brava!"

September 29, 2015

Today we did what seemed like a whole day of Italian. We only did the time until play time. (Which was not long at all.) I might go across the busy street. Cora is bothering me so I cannot concentrate and cannot think of anything to write on the pieces of paper. How are you today?

September 27, 2015: Yesterday and Today

For the past few days I have been reading a book from school that is in Italian. It is about bodies. Yesterday we saw Milena and had dinner with her and had lots and Lots and LOTS of fun! We also went to the castle and saw lots of things. Today I have been doing a lot of homework and I am doing it right now.

What did you do today? We played an opposite game with Milena. The words were: together, alone, slow, fast, tall, short, far, near, night, day, inside, outside, heavy, light, in front, behind, big, small, hot, and cold. We also did pass the ball to your partner. And then we watched a movie. And now we will have dinner.

Today we did a history test. What did you do??? Play, go to school, or dance? Well, I went to school and it was so so sO So SO SO! fun! I got to play with Tilly just me and her playing detectives. And now I'm drawing a picture.

Today at school was not so good. My tummy was hurting and my throat hurt a lot. And I fell down and I hurt myself. But I had fun otherwise. I wish I were in Texas with everybody and warm weather and English school.

Today I did some homework. Yesterday we went to Giulia's and Elisa's birthday party. Sura and I went to the hills and rolled down the hills. There was a little trail that went on the hills. When we got home we had leek soup and tuna sandwiches then we went to bed. Good night.

Today I switched classes from 3C to 3B. I like this class better because people helped me and played with me. I wish I could be in Texas. The new class is in English (mostly). My teacher's name is Miss India. My friend Tilly is from Texas.

I lost my tooth today!!!!!! I miss Pond Springs Elementary so So SO SO! much. I also miss Maxfield, Ellie, Sophia, and Miss Fairbourn. My school is shaped like a square and the gym is not in that square.

OK. Maybe I'm having a teeny weeny super tiny bit of fun. I really like my friends in Texas and miss them. I like my teacher. I had German today. I knew more German than anyone else because I had German summer camp. I got a compass.

So far I am not liking school. I only like English because I just like English and Italian is so So SO SO! hard to understand for me. My English teacher is named Miss Anca and my Italian teacher is named Miss Cristina. Are you having fun?

Day before school

I am 300,000% sure I do not want to go to school tomorrow. I met one of my classmates last night and stayed till 10:00. We met Cora's friend's parents. Now back to school. I really really do not want to go to school. Mom said she will get me ice cream if I do not cry.

Vacation in Corsica

In Pisa we had lunch and we played for a little

Mommy hurt her foot on Sunday and she went to the hospital with daddy. We watched a lot of movies. In the afternoon daddy, me, Amy, Milena, Cora, and Viviana went to the pool and swam and swam and swam until me and Cora got tired of the pool and went home. A few minutes later Milena came home. Then we had dinner.

Monday we went to the beach. After the beach we went on a drive. And it was fun.

On Tuesday morning we went on a boat and daddy took a lot of pictures and they were very very very pretty. I saw a rock that looked like an elephant and a rock that looked like an alligator (or a crawling monkey). We saw a rock that looked like a thumb and a rudder.

In the afternoon we went on a scavenger hunt. We found a apricot and what looked like a lizard egg. We also found lots and lots of flowers. We also found a lizard and three beetles. We went down the trail to other apartments to take pictures. After the little girls went to bed, Amy, me, dad, and Milena all went out to dinner together. I had a steak which I didn’t eat because it had nuts all over it. I had lamb instead.

On Wednesday we went to the beach and swam and made sandcastles. Milena made beignets and I made beignet ice cream. 

Before dinner on Wednesday, we painted fingernails and toenails. In the parking lot of the restaurant we saw a cow right by the car.

On Thursday we went on a hike. On a very rocky path I was climbing down a tall rock, and I fell face first and scraped my knee and arm and got dirt in my mouth. Daddy carried me in the backpack to mommy.

On Friday, we went on a walk in an old village. We saw a lookout over the city and ocean.The King built steps into the village to attack it.

On Saturday, we drove and drove and drove and drove. We had an Orangina in the square. I got a magnet after lunch. We have a cave bedroom in the new apartment.

Sunday, we went to a trail with lots and lots and lots of rocks. One of the rocks was shaped like a dog’s head (tete du chien). We climbed on the rocks. We ate beside the trail and found lots of caves. Daddy climbed into a cave high up. We had peas and sausages and carrots for dinner.

Monday, we went for a walk and found treasures.

Tuesday we did a big drive and saw water and rocks and everything pretty.

On Wednesday we went to the beach and saw the sunset. We had to walk along the road, and the road was currrrrrvy.

On Thursday we went to the ropes course and swung on the things that you swing on that are not called swings and played on the rope course.

On Friday, we went to see the turtles and three turtles were big. On Friday afternoon we went to biiiiiiig waves. The light had a bee in it.

Saturday we went on the boat again.
